
FRIED APPLE PIES THE EASY WAY. I JUST LEARNED HOW TO MAKE THESE LAST WEEK. AFTER YEARS OF GOING OH NO HE WANTS FRIED APPLE PIES. I NEVER COULD GET THEM TO TURN OUT RIGHT.NOW I'M THE ONE GOING DO YOU WANT A PIE YET?
EASY FRIED APPLE PIES:
PIE FILLING ( HOMEMADE OR BOUGHT) (CHILLED)
FLOUR TORTILLAS
OIL
HEAT SKILLET ON MED TO MED HIGH HEAT
SPOON ABOUT A TABLESPOON OF CHILLED FILLING IN THE MIDDLE OF TORTILLA AND FOLD IN HALF. PUT IN HOT OIL. WITH A BUTTER KNIFE AND TURNER GENTLY PRESS DOWN ON CORNERS AND TURN. IT ONLY TAKES A FEW SECONDS TO COOK. PUT ON PAPER TOWEL TO DRAIN OFF OIL.
HOMEMADE PIE FILLING:
2 GAL. APPLES (PEELED-CORED-AND CUT UP) I USED 3 GAL.
1 CUP APPLE CIDER VINEGAR
5 CUPS SUGAR
CINNAMON ( I PUT 2 LITTLE SHAKES)
PUT SUGAR ON APPLES AND LET SIT FOR A FEW HOURS. THE SUGAR WILL DRAW THE JUICE OFF THE APPLES SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO ADD WATER. WHEN THE APPLES ARE READY TO COOK ADD VINEGAR AND PUT THEM ON MED TO MED HIGH HEAT AFTER THEY START BOILING. AFTER 1 HOUR YOU NEED TO WATCH THEM SO THEY DON'T STICK OR BURN. PUT CINNAMON IN NOW. COOK UNTIL THICK THEN PUT IN HOT JARS OR FREEZE. I HAD A 5 GAL BUCKET OF APPLES. (WHICH IS WHY I USED 3 GAL CUT UP APPLES) I THINK LESS WOULD BE TO SWEET ANYWAY. THIS MADE ABOUT 10 PINTS.
I DRIED APPLES TO USE IN PIES BUT I LIKE THIS WAY BETTER. I'M USUALLY IN A HURRY AND NEED SOMETHING FAST.

YOU KNOW I HAD THESE PIES FOR BREAKFAST. WAY TO GOOD TO JUST LET THEM SIT THERE AND GET COLD.

ReplyDeleteThose look so good! My mama used to cook down dried fruit with sugar & water -she called it "stewing" - and used that for her pies. My aunt used to roll out the dough but in later years bought Hungry Jack biscuits and rolled them out for fried pie dough.
