BURIAL POUCH # 2

KATHY 2007 WITH BRENDA'S HELP.

THIS IS FOR YOU BRENDA. YOU ASKED ME IF IT COULD BE MADE LIKE THIS SO YOU WOULDN'T HAVE TO SERGE THE ONE CLOTH. I THINK IT TURNED OUT GREAT. IT WOULD BE REAL EASY TO PUT A PIECE OF PLASTIC IN BETWEEN THE FOLDED CLOTH ALSO. THIS WOULD HELP BECAUSE FLUID DOES LEEK FROM THEIR SKIN. THANKS.

F HOOK
BABY YARN
2 CHEAP WASHCLOTHS
RIBBON
PINS

FOLD ONE CLOTH IN HALF AND PLACE ON TOP OF THE ONE THAT IS LAYING FLAT. PIN IN PLACE.
ROW 1: SC AROUND AND [work 2 sc in 1-2-or 3 of the corner sp's to ease out corners and keep them from drawing up.] SL ST TO THE FIRST STITCH.
ROW 2: *CH 3 SP ONE ST AND SC IN NEXT ST*. REPEAT FROM* TO * AROUND. SL ST TO BEGINNING SC.
ROW 3: CH 1 SC ,3 DC, SC IN CH 3 SP. * SC, 3DC,SC IN NEXT CH 3 SP*. REPEAT FROM * TO * AROUND. SL ST TO BEGINNING SC. FASTEN OFF.
TIE A PIECE OF RIBBON ON EACH SIDE.

HINT: BEFORE YOU SL ST TOGETHER AT THE END. HOLD ONE CORNER WITH ONE HAND. PLACE OTHER HAND BESIDE IT WITH THUMB ON ONE SIDE AND FINGERS ON THE OTHER SIDE AND SLIDE ACROSS TO THE NEXT CORNER. DO THIS AROUND UNTIL IT IS SMOOTH ALL AROUND. I DO THIS SEVERAL TIMES WHILE I'M MAKING IT.

YOU CAN WORK THE SAME PATTERN ON THE FOLDED CLOTH IF YOU LIKE. I THOUGHT IT LOOKED JUST FINE LIKE THIS.

YOU CAN ALSO WORK YOUR FAVORITE EDGING AROUND IT AFTER YOU WORK ROW 1.

  1. Kathy,

I am interested in making yhour Burial Pouch #2. You mentioned putting plastic inside. What kind of plastic, and do you crochet over it to make it stay in place? I consider myself one step above beginner, so I need simple explanations!! I really enjoy your Crochet Cabin! I have just joined the Emmazing Grace Foundation and would like to make these to donate. Thank you for your time and patience!

  4. HEY ALLYSON,
I USED A WHITE TALL KITCHEN GARBAGE BAG. I DIDN'T CROCHET THROUGH IT BECAUSE I WAS AFRAID IT WOULD SHOW THROUGH ON THE ENDS.

GOOD LUCK AND IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE LET ME KNOW.
    BLESS YOU,
    KATHY
