MY FATHER-IN-LAW PASSED AWAY FEB. 17, 2007. IT'S BEEN A VERY EMOTIONAL TIME FOR US. HE WAS 83 YEARS OLD. HE WAS A VERY ACTIVE MAN. HE DID ALL OF HIS YARD WORK,HOUSEWORK AND DRIVING. AFTER CHRISTMAS HE STARTED REALLY GOING DOWN HILL. HE REFUSED TO GO TO THE DOCTOR. HE SAID HE WANTED TO DIE AT HOME. HE TOLD US HE HAD LIVED A GOOD LONG LIFE AND HE JUST WANTED TO GO BE WITH HIS WIFE. HE DIDN'T WANT ANYONE TO EVEN STAY WITH HIM AT NIGHT. HE ALLOWED US THERE DURING THE DAY BUT YOU HAD TO LEAVE A LITTLE AFTER DARK. OUT OF RESPECT FOR HIM WE DID AS HE ASKED.
HE LEFT BEHIND A TON OF MEMORIES FOR HIS FAMILY. HE LIVED THE KIND OF LIFE THAT MADE PEOPLE LOVE AND RESPECT HIM. IF HE SAID ANYTHING YOU KNEW IT TO BE THE TRUTH. IF ANYONE WAS EVER IN THE HOSPITAL HE WENT TO SEE THEM. THE SAME WAS TRUE FOR THE FUNERAL HOME. HE LOVED HIS FAMILY AND WE WILL TRULY MISS HIM.
I DON'T KNOW IF WE'LL EVER GET USED TO LOOKING OUT THE WINDOW AND NOT SEEING YOU ACROSS THE ROAD. KNOWING YOUR WHERE YOU WANT TO BE DOESN'T MAKE IT ANY EASIER ON US. WE KNOW IT WAS FOR THE BEST. WE JUST MISS YOU SO MUCH.
I LOVE YOU PAW-PAW.
I'm sorry about your loss. What a legacy he left. I found your blog thru 25 Things. You do good work.
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU ZOANNA. IT'S AMAZING HOW A FEW KIND WORDS FROM A STRANGER CAN MEAN SO MUCH. I WASN'T PREPARED FOR THE TEARS THAT FELL WHEN I SAW YOUR COMMENT. THANKS AGAIN.
